Tuffy’s Pet Foods, Inc. Issues Recall of a Nutrisca Dog Food

Tuffy’s Pet Foods, Inc., isNUTRISCAsued a voluntary recall today of a limited quantity of Nutrisca Dry Dog Food because of the potential for Salmonella contamination.

The risk from handling contaminated products is high and pet owners are always urged to carefully wash their hand after handling any pet products.

Dogs who become infected with the bacteria may display signs of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, bloody diarrhea, abdominal pain and fever.  But not all dogs show symptoms.  Some dogs do not become ill but rather, are carriers of the bacteria.  Humans may show the same symptoms.  Always contact your veterinarian or physician if your pets or you display the symptoms.

The recalled products are:

Nutrisca Chicken and Chick Pea Recipe Dry Dog Food
4 lb. bag
UPC code:  8 8424412495 7
First 4 digits of Lot Codes:  4G29P; 4G31P; 4H01P; 4804P; 4H05P; 4H06P
Best by dates:  Jul 28/16; Jul 30/16; Jul 31/16; Aug. 3/16; Aug. 4/16; and Aug. 5/16

Routine sampling by the Ohio Department of Agriculture revealed the presence of Salmonella in one 4 lb. bag of the product.

Nutrisca  products are sold nationwide to distributers, broker, retail stores and internet stores. If you purchased this product included in the recall, stop using it and dispose of it in a safe manner.
