Review: Petbrosia, Perhaps the Best Commercial Pet Food

April 3, 2013

Petbrosia, a new-to-the-market pet food for dogs and cats, may well be THE perfect commercial  pet food.  Our website is all about food and how it affects our dogs and cats.  There are certain ingredients an animal needs and some it doesn’t need.  Pet food brands run the gamut from good to bad, and very few truly offer healthy nutrition.  Petbrosia does just that!

This product is unique, because the food is custom designed to meet the nutritional needs of each pet.  Company founder Keith Johnson in a press release, said, “When it comes to pet food, one size does not fit all…Petbrosia is the first dry pet food brand that allows consumers to order dog and cat food based on the breed, age and weight of the pet.”

In a conversation with Tina Daily, Relationship Marketing Manager for Petbrosia, I asked about the formulations of cat and dog foods, since the two species have different nutritional needs.  According to Ms. Daily, their nutritionists consider those needs when they formulate the food.  For example, the taurine required by cats is usually met by the much higher protein in the Petbrosia food.  If a cat has a weight problem, the food would be created with lower protein amounts, and taurine would be added to provide the necessary amino acid.

When I placed my order, I first had to create a profile for Maggie and based on that profile, the company created a formula specifically for her:

Note that there is no corn, no soy, and no wheat in this food.  There are no by-products or artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.  The first ingredient listed is always fresh meat.  For now, that meat is deboned, free range, hormone-free chicken.  In June, they plan to add lamb as an option.   There are no fillers.  Along with naturally-sourced ingredients, Petbrosia foods contain an antioxidant blend that is also from natural sources, like blueberries, dried apple, cranberries, sweet potato or carrots.  The formulas are designed to help pets maintain an ideal weight.

Prebiotics and Probiotics are included to support a healthy digestive tract.  The blend of Omega-6 and Omega-3 fatty acids promote healthy skin and coat.  They also include glucosamine and Chondroitin to maintain strong joints.

Because of the company’s commitment to deliver the freshest food possible, the specific blend of food for a pet is not created until it is ordered.  It is not mass-produced and sitting in a warehouse or distribution center or on store shelves for weeks or months.

One of the best attributes about Petbrosia is that ALL the ingredients are sourced in the United States, and the food is manufactured here, as well.

The company sent out its first order on March 15.  Plan for the future include offering more variety in protein sources.  They hope to be able to offer lamb as a major ingredient by summer.

While Petbrosia isn’t a cheap food, the ingredients they use suggest that an animal will thrive on this diet, requiring fewer trips to the veterinarian with food-related illnesses or allergies.  In the long run, a diet of this food may actually be a bargain.

If you would like to try Petbrosia dog or cat food for your pet, the company is offering our readers a special deal:  Go to their website, place your order after creating your pet’s profile and when prompted to add a coupon code, enter:  Fido.  You will receive 25% off your first order; then proceed with finishing the order.

At this time, we do not benefit in any way from your purchase of this food, so I am totally free of bias in recommending it to you.  Give it a try….I believe your own Fido and Fluffy will thank you.
