Recall of Red Flannel Cat Formula Cat Food

January 27, 2014

The Food and Drug Administration has announced a voluntary recall of PMI Nutrition’s Red Flannel® Cat Formula cat food following a routine testing by the FDA Detroit District Office.

There is a potential for Salmonella contamination, and the company chose to voluntarily recall the product to avoid any problems.  No illnesses have been reported.

If you have purchased a product with the Best By date of  05/06/14 and the Lot # 096 13 SM L2 1A, return the product to the place of purchase.

Salmonella infections can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramping and could even result in more serious illness in certain people.

Infected animals could display lethargy, fever, diarrhea or vomiting, although some animals can be carriers and never become ill.  This means they could infect the humans around them but never show signs of illness themselves.

Red Flannel® Cat Formula is distributed in Alabama, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Wisconsin, and West Virginia.
