Recall: Jump Your Bones Pet Treats (Roo Bites)

The Food & Drug Administration released a notice of the voluntary recall of Roo Bites (Cubes) made by Jump Your Bones, Inc., of Boca Raton, Florida.  The product has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.  No illnesses have been reported at this time.

Salmonella infection can affect the animal eating the product, as well as the humans handling said product.  Be sure to wash your hands thoroughly after handling any pet treat, food or container and clean any surfaces exposed to said product.

Pets with Salmonella infections could be lethargic and suffer from diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, vomiting and fever.  Some pets are “carriers” and only display a decreased appetite or no symptoms at all.  If your pet has consumed the affected product and does show symptoms of illness, contact your veterinary professional.

In humans, Salmonella infection may display nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping or fever.  In some people, Salmonella can result in more serious illnesses.

The affected product lots of Jump Your Bones Pet Treats were distributed to pet stores nationwide and also through pet food retailers/distributors.

The affected products are sold in Boutique Bags and in online stores.  Said products affected by the recall are identified with the following UPC code:

63633010041 for 80g./2.82 oz. including samples of .32 oz.

If you purchased the affected product, stop feeding it to your pet and return the product to your place of purchase for a full refund or dispose of it at once.
