Recall: Eukanuba & Iams Dog & Cat food

August 14, 2013

Proctor & Gamble has voluntarily recalled certain lots of Eukanuba and Iams dog and cat foods due to the potential for Salmonella infection.

The affected products were distributed to select retailers in the United States.  All of the retailers have been notified to remove the products from their shelves.

To determine if you have purchased a product that has been recalled, match the product description and the lot code on your package to the chart below.  Both must match for the package to be affected.

Should you have a recalled package of pet food, stop using it at once; clip the code date and the UPC from your bag and mail to:

Consumer Relations
Attention: Katie
Box 1534
Mason, OH 45040

If you have more than one affected bag, include a register receipt with the code date and UPC code.  Include your complete mailing address and phone number.

For further questions, call 800-208-0172.

Salmonella can sicken both pets and people.  Symptoms include diarrhea, nausea, fever, vomiting and lethargy.  Some pets only display a decreased appetite, fever, and or abdominal pain.  Some healthy pets can be carriers of the bacteria and can infect other animals and humans.

Be sure to wash your hands with soap and warm water after handling pet food or treats, food dishes and pet toys to prevent infection.
