Recall: Bailey’s Choice Dog Treats

November 1, 2013

Bailey’s Choice Dog Treats announced today that the company has issued a voluntary recall of their chicken jerky treats due to possible Salmonella contamination.

In a press release from the Georgia Department of Agriculture, Commissioner Gary W. Black said the recalled products should be discarded immediately if anyone has purchased them.  The Georgia Department of Agriculture is working with Bailey’s Choice to ensure that the recalled products have been completely removed from store shelves and warehouses.

The recalled products include the following:

Lot number 132881 in various sizes with an expiration date of February, 2013, and lot dates of June 5, 2013, and October 8, 2013.

These are the only treats affected by this recall.  While this company states on their website that their products are made in the U.S. and are all natural,  there is no law requiring pet food manufacturers to state the source of actual ingredients in their products.

There have been no reports of illnesses from the recalled products but if you believe your pet has eaten them and/or you may have handled said products,  watch for symptoms of Salmonella infection.  Should you experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, bloody diarrhea and lethargy, seek medical help at once.
