Pet Treats Recalled!

September 26, 2014

While this recall isn’t exactly pet food, it is a dog treat and must be reported.  On September 25, 2014, two lot numbers of Kong Aussie Sticks dog treats were recalled by the manufacturer, JAKKS Pacific of Walnut, California.

The reason for this recall is possible mold contamination.
According to a JAKKS Pacific spokesperson, the products were not dried properly and a small percentage of finished products have “gone moldy.”

The recalled products show the following numbers:

Item 75559
Item 75560

The spokesperson said, “Majority of the product is fine, and the mold was caught at our DC, but some product may have made it to PetSmart so we are recalling all the product at PetSmart and destroying the product we have at our DC.”

No other store locations or online sites were listed by the company.

If you have purchased either of the item numbers listed above, you can return the product to PetSmart for a full refund.

Kong can be reached at 303/216-2626. You can reach JAKKS Pacific at 877-875-2557.
