Only four states were affected, and the dog food was sold in 12 Dollar General Stores.  The recall only affects 15 lb. bags of the food in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.

The metal fragments are not imbedded in the food itself but could possibly be loose in the dry kibble. The fragments could cause injury if eaten.

The lot code on affected packages is 432C1KKM03 and can be found near the UPC near the bottom of the package. The Best By date is 8/5/15.

No other Pedigree products are included in this recall.  If you have purchased this Pedigree dog food, contact Mars Petcare at 800/305-5206 between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. CST or return the food to your retailer for a full refund or exchange.
