Delicious Chicken Jerky Dog Treats

March 10, 2013

With this recipe, you can make chicken jerky dog treats for your dog and not have to worry about health issues in commercial pet treats.

2 Tbsp. Local Wild Honey
2 Tbsp. Unsulphured Blackstrap Molasses
4 Tbsp. Water
1 Tbsp. Dried Rosemary
1 lb. Chicken (stir-fry cut)

Grind the rosemary by hand or in a food processor.  Combine molasses, honey, rosemary and water in a bowl.  Add the chicken and stir to cover all pieces.

Preheat oven to 225 degrees.  Line a roasting pan with foil and place a wire rack on top.  Twist and lay the marinated chicken on the rack.  Brush any remaining marinade on top.

Bake approximately 5 hours and allow to cool before serving.

These treats will stay fresh in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about a week.

Many thanks to writer, Alexandra Blantyre for granting me permission to use this recipe.  To read  more of her work, click here .  In her note to me, she wrote:  “…I want to help save pets lives by protecting them from some of the products out there labeled for them that are not safe.”
