Blue Buffalo Cat Treat Recalled Blue Buffalo Cat Treat Recalled

 

The Food & Drug Administration has announced a voluntary recall of one lot of Blue Buffalo’s Blue Kitty Yums Chicken Recipe Cat Treats because they contain propylene glycol, a chemical that is not approved by the FDA in cat food.

Cats who have eaten this product could possibly show a reaction of loss of coordination, depression, muscle twitching, or excessive thirst or urination. If your pet has eaten this treat and does show any of those symptoms, contact your veterinary professional at once for advice.

This product is distributed nationwide in retail stores and online.  It is packaged in 2 oz. plastic pouches.  The following lot is included in this recall:

Blue Kitty Yums Tasty Chicken Recipe, UPC code of 859610007820 with a best by date of April 24, 2016, and July 24, 2016.

No other Blue Buffalo products were included in this recall, and there have been no other reports of problems.  Out of caution, the manufacturer is recalling the entire lot as the subject bag that was tested and found to contain propylene glycol.
